Welcome to Brian's BooksThis web site is in honor of my beloved brother Brian Schutzius. He was born on February 9, 2001 with a very rare chromosome disorder. We loved him dearly for nearly five years when sadly, he passed away on November, 13 2005. We think about him all of the time and want to make sure his memory lives on. That's how we came up with Brian's Books. Brian loved his books and loved it when I read to him. As a way to keep his sweet spirit alive and give other children the gift of books, every year on his birthday, we collect as many books as possible give them to a local public school library. Last year, we collected more than 150 books for Lyles Crouch Traditional Academy. We also collected funds to purchase books and art supplies in a special needs preschool in post-Katrina Louisiana. This year, we will donate most of the books to my current school, George Washington Middle School. We are collecting books for kids ages 10 through 13 years. Hardbacks are preferred, but all books are welcome. Any books geared toward younger ages will be donated to Brian's old school, Jefferson Houston. Each book will have a bookplate dedicated to Brian's memory. We also provide the librarian with a little story about Brian with the hopes to educate more people about people with disabilities and special needs. We hope to gather as many books as possible. Please send all the books you wish in before Febuary 9, 2010, Brian's Birthday, so hurry! Thank you for visiting this site.
